RECREATIONAL SOCCER

POWERED BY

PUMA FC - MANHATTAN

OVERVIEW

Recreational soccer powered by Puma FC Manhattan

Fall 2020 Puma FC launched its own recreational league for players grades Pre-K to 6th Grade for boys and girls, 500+ players competed in our league in the 2020/2021 season and that number jumped 700+ players for the 2021-2022 season.

These teams are selected regardless of the player’s abilities or skills, and are instead based on who their friends are or where they go to school. Recreational teams are coached by motivated volunteers, who are supplied with an age specific coaching curriculum.

The parent coaching will run all the games and practices but will have access to a Puma FC Professional coach/trainer if they have any questions. Puma FC will provide all coaches with coaching resources prior to the season starting, as well as, during the season.

What is Recreational Soccer?

Recreational Soccer is a program that is primarily devoted to the enjoyment and development of youth soccer players without the emphasis on traveling or high level competition. These teams are selected regardless of the player’s abilities or skills and are instead based on who their friends are or where they go to school.

Puma FC is committed to providing the best tactical and overall athletic development for each individual player while offering players, their families, and coaches an enjoyable soccer experience. We are dedicated to helping players reach their full potential all while fostering a love of the game. The mission of Puma FC Manhattan is to provide every child the opportunity to play soccer regardless of skill or income level; foster an enduring love for soccer in our players, teach fair play, self-confidence, leadership, good citizenship in a team environment; and to develop the players individual and team skills through high-quality training and coaching.

At Puma FC, players learn and develop to their full potential through game-like experiences in an enjoyable environment that supports individual growth.

Why Recreational Soccer with Puma FC?

Puma FC strives to promote and teach the game of soccer, develop players at all levels, create an environment where area youth can learn good sportsmanship and fair play, and encourage all players, officials, coaches and spectators to enjoy the game.

Our goal is to provide an exciting and fun experience in a low-pressure environment for kids so they can learn the game and develop a passion for soccer and athletics for many years to come. We strongly believe that youth sports play an important role in a child’s life. Children who participate in youth sports develop both physical and social skills, including self-confidence, discipline, focus, friendship, and motivation – lessons essential in the life of a student athlete. Regular physical activity during practices and games also carries a range of health benefits for young players.

Our recreational soccer program provides boys and girls teams for Pre-K through 6th Grade. We compete in both spring and fall in house leagues and offer options for summer camps and training opportunities. The coaches for these teams are volunteer parents. The make-up of individual teams varies, but most are formed based on elementary school attendance.

Professional coaches provide guidance and resources to aid our volunteer coaches in introducing age appropriate skills to help our recreational players learn and enjoy soccer.
